OMTC

Orthopaedic Manual Therapy Certified

Physical Therapists who successfully complete OMT 1-5 are eligible to sit for the certification exam.  Therapists spend one full day in small groups with a SOMT instructor discussing cases of common musculoskeletal conditions and practicing manual therapy treatment interventions.  Therapists receive feedback on their clinical decision-making and manual therapy skills. The day of engaging instruction prepares therapists for the certification exam.

On the second day, therapists take rigorous written, oral, and practical exams. They will have multiple examiners who follow a standardized grading rubric established by SOMT.  There is a high expectation and standard for passing the exam. If therapists successfully pass all three parts of the exam, they are granted executive membership in the Society for Orthopaedic Manual Therapy and earn the right to use the OMTC credentials after their name.
